I’ve always been a fan of the bar soap as a traditional method, but I love my loofah at the same time. The thing I struggle with, with bar soap is that I feel like all those commercials show it leaves a residue. Is there any one that goes against that?

I swear by the loofah and good wash (with an exfoliating wash once a week.) My boyfriend, however, does not. For the longest time he was an Irish Spring man, but it actually left his skin really dry. So, he became a fan of the Ivory: clean and fresh, without the “foo-foo” smell. It works like a charm, and is great on the skin.

Thanks for your comment! To answer your question, Dove claims it does not leave behind any residue. You can check out their video explaining this here:

    Thanks again and good luck!

I’ve grown up using the bar soap and only having Dove in the house. I’ve used different soaps such as Ivory and Lever 2000, but it leaves my skin super dry and feel like I can only use Dove. Thanks for that video!

I’m usually the Loofah and Scented Soap kind of girl, but I do like to keep bar soap on hand, just in case. For those times when you get extra dirty, I find that a nice Dove bar can help get out the tough stuff without scratching your skin off!

I agree with above, I am so used to Dove that anything else seems to make my skin feel dry. Soap is a product where money does buy quality.

I never knew that Dial bar soap was antibacterial. That’s actually really useful, because so often these soaps are focused on the smell rather then the cleaning properties. Thanks for the info!

    Dove is my favorite.

I’m a Dove gal. I used to use Ivory, but it leaves my skin dry. I’ve also checked out the video of Dove and it’s gross to see the difference! Yuck.

My two favorite are Dove for it’s moisturizing affect, as well as Irish Spring for it’s strong clean scent. I always get both since my boyfriend says Dove is a girl’s soap and refuses to use it. Somehow, that makes him think the Irish Spring soap is his, but I still use that one too.

That’s funny. Have you heard the comedian talking about his girlfriend’s exfoliating soap? If guys don’t like it they can get their own!

I like the smell of Irish Spring, but to me, I associate that with men. I’ve always been a Dove buyer and think I always will until I die :)

I love bar soap for bathtime! I haven’t heard of Camay soap before, but it sounds like it’d be right up my alley… I’ll have to give it a try!
