Inmates Limited to One Roll of Toilet Paper a Week

Jun 6, 2013

It’s not what you think! According to this article from Kake.com the inmates at Sedgwick County Jail use toilet paper for more than just the “regular” reasons.

Apparently, inmates are using toilet paper for many different reasons besides the obvious. Some reasons sound legit (like blocking the vents in the winter to stay warm), others reasons, not so much (like blocking vents so that they can get away with smoking in their cells). All of this usage has led to a $100,000 toilet paper budget per year.

So the local Sheriff has decided to limit inmates to just 1 roll of toilet paper per week, which will save taxpayers about $50,000 a year. According to Kenn Fischburg, author of the Toilet Paper Encyclopedia, one roll per week is “about normal for an average person.”

Unless you are sick, of course, in which case, inmates will be allotted as much as they need. Thank heavens!
