National Take Your Dog to Work Day!

Jun 24, 2011

Asker smiling for the camera on the left, while Angel is anxious to get back to work on the right

It’s that time of year where we get to bring our favorite four-legged friends into work and show our pooch compadres how much we care about them.  If you are lucky enough for your company to participate, having a dog around the workplace really brings camaraderie to the office that you just don’t have without them.  Of course, it’s always nice to have carpet cleaner and extra paper towel around just in case…  Our local canine celebrities, Asker and Angel pictured on the right, always bring a smile to everyone’s face here at ToiletPaperWorld.

Take Your Dog to Work Day was first held in the United States on June 24, 1999 and was created by Pet Sitters International.  Its purpose is to show what great companions dogs can make and to encourage adoption from local shelters, rescue groups, and humane societies.  Personally, I’ve always had a dog or two that came from the local humane society, and they made great pets.

In celebration of Take Your Dog to Work Day follow us on Twitter to see great pics of adorable doggies every hour today!

This is my favorite day! I didn’t know about this day until Monday when my co-workers mentioned bringing their dogs (one brought her cat lol). Everyday should be “Bring Your Dog to Work” Day, right?

I should get a dog just for this occasion. Asker looks happy for the camera (are they used to these photos?) 😀

Asker is smiling constantly – she walks around just about all day with that huge grin on her face! I think I’m going to have to take a break soon and track her down to get my doggy-fix for the day :)

I wish we could celebrate this day. There are some workers here that are allergic to dog hair so we can’t live in the moment :( But looking at the photos on Twitter, looks like others had a great time. I loved the photo with the golden lab opening the handicap door. Too cute!

I suggested a take your dog to work day once but they were worried about the people that may have allergies.

  12. Molly - July 6th, 2011 at 10:32 am

I have allergies, but I love having animals around!

Sorry to disagree with everyone, but come on dogs at work. I’ve now seen dogs at malls, dogs at the beach, dogs at restaurants, and now dogs at work. When is this going to end!

How CUTE is this? I wish my office would honor this holiday – Rufus (my incredibly adorable bulldog) would make the workday a lot more interesting, to say the least!

I’ve also a pet… I think pets are more faithful than a man in modern time. what you think about it…?

  16. Patrick - August 4th, 2011 at 5:37 am

It certainly is an interesting point. I personally could see and understand both sides of that argument – I like to have pets around but I also like the company of people. I would be very hard pressed to have to choose one or the other!

Awww, what kind of dogs are these? Whatever they are, they’re too cute and make me miss mine back home! I had to leave them with my parents when I got my apartment – but something tells me they’re even more spoiled there than they would be with me!

Those dogs in the pic are so cute, I have always wanted a Collie or a Sheltie, who doesn’t like Lassie? :) And that white dog just looks so happy. Puppy smiles are the best.

I wish my dog was potty trained so I could bring her to work, unfortunately she still goes in the house sometimes so I don’t think I could take her with me. Trying to get her fully trained though, maybe next year!

I keep asking my boss for a bring your pet to work day. I guess that we really would need lots of paper towels.
