Public Restoom Hygiene

Oct 8, 2010

Public Restroom StallsMany people have aversions to using public restrooms. Who knows how many people are using these toilets and sinks? At least, at home, you know who you are sharing germs with!

If you must use a public bathroom, there are some important things to remember! Some of recommendations for using a public bathroom include avoiding air hand dryers, using touchless dispensers. Carrying a hand sanitizer with you might also be a good idea, in case you do pick up any germs on door handles or faucets.

Check out this blog by Joseph Morris that discusses Public Restroom Statistics. You might be horrified by these public bathroom facts!

Public restrooms are giving me creeps. I cant stand to see that some of the top locals don’t maintain basic hygiene

Why not pull the door open with your foot instead of touching the door handle when exiting? StepNpull hands free door opening gives the user the option of pulling the door open with their foot instead of using their hand. Check out it out at http://www.stepnpull.com.

That sounds like a great way to avoid touching possibly contaminated areas. Thanks!

Is it true that it takes at least 7 layers of the protective sheets to even be effective? A co-worker told me that once, and it’s mortifying!

That’s a nice comfort room, we don’t have privacy here :)

I think I’m going to throw up. Those statistics were outrageous and disgusting! I don’t know what was worse, reading that toilet seat covers are pretty much useless, or that photo of Britney Spears. This article made me look at public restrooms in a different light and now I’ll be more prepared!

    Preparation is key!

I just checked out the link of statistics and I’m shocked. I think of bathrooms being orderly and cleaned on a regular basis, but I guess I never think about how many people are using these restrooms per hour/per day. Time to stock up on anti-bacterial soap!

I definitely don’t like using public restrooms- but if you gotta go, you gotta go! I always have a travel size bottle of hand sanitizer in my purse (thank you Target travel section!), I don’t usually use it after I go to the bathroom since I wash my hands, but I guess I should probably use a little anyway- just to be extra safe! I’m debating clicking that link about Public Restroom Statistics…I don’t want to be too scared to use a public restroom ever again…

It will just make you more careful :)
